York C102 Cycle

York C102 Cycle
I bought this 7 months ago - I chose this model over the C101 because at the time I weighed nearly 18 stone, and this had a higher weight rating. I now weigh 12 and a half stone, and while this feat isn't wholly down to the bike it has certainly played a central part.

Every day I use it for half an hour in the morning, and the same in the evening - the pulse sensor telling me how fast I should go to lose weight and not to push myself too hard.

It feels as good now as it did when I assembled it - and has been reliable - which is more than I can say for the V-fit rower I also bought which I've now replaced twice, and shall be ditching in favour of a concept2 when I've saved the money.
I couldn't be more pleased with this bike!

Pedal Exercise With Digital Display

Bought the pedal exerciser to recover some motorbility after having a total knee replacement. Easy to use whilst watching TV. One thing I have noticed is that the axle can become quite warm if used at a high tension setting, and it works better with the straps removed. Recommend this aparatus to anyone who want's to exercise in the comfort of their own home.

Kettler X1 Ergometer Exercise Bike Review

Ultrafit Exercise Bike Ergometer

By Roy Palmer
The Kettler X1 Ergometer is a superb bike that's really cutting edge at a very reasonable price. It looks great and delivers what it promises. The thick gel saddle is very comfortable and warms up as you sit on it and molds to the shape of your butt - which will be getting smaller over the coming weeks :0) The saddle and handle bars can all be adjusted to find the best position.

Not only does the X1 come with 8 pre-set exercise programmes, including a heart rate controlled one for fat burning, you can also hook up the console to Kettler's website to download more - a great innovation. As with all Kettler bikes this one is extremely quiet (in fact it barely makes a sound at all!) with a very smooth action thanks to its 10kg flywheel.

The X1 can measure your pulse via, hand grips, ear clip or chest strap (not included). This is essential for using the heart rate controlled programme that keeps your pulse rate in between a pre-determined range based on your age and weight. The bike controls the resistance level based on your pulse rate, if it drops it hikes up the resistance, if it gets too high it lowers it. This sort of training keeps you in the fat burning zone for fast weight loss and enhanced fitness. Of the three methods to measure your pulse rate the chest strap offers the most accurate. Both the ear clip and hand grips may record a slightly higher rate and therefore reduce the effectiveness of the heart rate controlled programmes.

The console and display is very well laid out and easy to use. It displays everything you need to know about your workout and allows you to measure your progress to keep you motivated.
A real winner from Kettler with plenty of features to keep you coming back for more.

Body Sculpture BE5920 Fan Elliptical Trainer

By Mrs. J. E. Thomas
I . though it's going to hurt in the morning! We're forty-somethings who've always done a lot of walking but that's been about it, partly due to back problems necessitating low-impact exercise.

I decided to buy a cross-trainer, mostly for its cardio-vascular benefits. We looked at several much more expensive machines, but they were all either too big for me (5'6"), meaning that I was uncomfortably leaned forward, or too small for my husband (6'1"), meaning that he was bashing his knees on the uprights. We were reluctant to spend so much money on something that only one of us could benefit from. Also, they were often HUGE - our house isn't small, but space would have been an issue.

So we decided to try this one, because it was inexpensive if only one of us (most likely me) could use it comfortably, and we wouldn't feel it was too much money wasted if our enthusiasm waned. Also it looked a bit more compact, which was also a plus.

It arrived in good shape yesterday, and the husband assembled it today. Generally easy, with well marked components, as has been said before. But we did notice one bit (the pedal hinge bolt) where we thought the written instructions were misleading and contrary to our instinct as to where a washer should go. If in doubt it's best to look at the exploded diagram (which confirmed our hunch).

We found it to be advisable to protect the area around the machine with newspaper for its first use, as we did get one large dollop of grease out - luckily it hit the radiator, not the carpet!

We've both tried it. It seems very robust, smooth and acceptably quiet in use and, much to our surprise, it works for both of us with our differing sizes.

We found it quite hard work to start with, which probably shows that we need it! As I said at the start, I think I might hurt in the morning! There's plenty of scope to increase the resistance and time, so it should still provide a good workout once we're a bit fitter.

Overall very pleased with our purchase, which was much better than we expected for the money.

This strider gets your heart rate going and is great fun to use while watching tv or listening to music. Once put together it seems very sturdy and durable.

I would recomend this to anyone looking to get something fun to keep them acitve and fit but not spend as much money as the other striders and cross trainers.

Another plus is that this strider has free super saver delivery where as the others I looked at all incurred a £30 delivery charge.

It was slightly more complicated to put together than I expected. I accidently over tightened one of the nuts which meant the crank would not rotate, so I had to take almost everything apart to figure out what the problem was and start again!

Keys Fitness Equipment - Exercise Bikes

By Payo W Perry
Exercise bikes continue to be extremely popular for people looking to burn calories in the home or gym environment, particularly with women. Among the many makers and brands Keys fitness equipment is one of the best you'll find and in this article we'll be looking at what to go for when purchasing an exercise bike for home use.

You'll find these machines listed under a number of names including stationary bikes, studio cycles and the like however the term exercise bikes is still the most common. Most people agree that they give an excellent cardio workout and are a safer form of exercise than jogging since there is less strain being placed on the knee and hip joints.

As with all exercise it's important that you do not stray out of your fat burning zone and into your muscle burning zone. For this reason all Keys fitness equipment exercise bikes will allow you to monitor your heart rate as this is the only real way to ensure you stay within your optimum training level.

Since you'll be spending quite a lot of time on the bike the comfort factor of the seat is also super important and another feature from Keys fitness equipment is the special gel they incorporate in all their bike seats. These will considerably increase your level of comfort while training and reduce the amount of soreness and fatigue you could suffer in the beginning.

Lastly you should look for a selection of training programs which can be stored into the bikes memory. These will be rated in various levels of difficulty and it's an excellent way to start exercising especially if you are a beginner. Once you gain more confidence the bikes from Keys fitness equipment will even allow you to create and save your own custom programs which is highly recommended since all exercise programs should be personal to you.

York C101 Exercise Cycle Features

I found the Amazon reviews very helpful when purchasing this exercise bike. So I hope this review will be a valuable addition and I will update it if required. Firstly, I have only owned this YORK C101 CYCLE a few hours so we are still learning about each other. I bought it from Amazon (with the free delivery) and that service is 5 star - I think I ordered it yesterday and it arrived late morning today.

The packaging seemed good and the instructions were definitely easy to follow. However, I struggled on the first bolts (which attach the rear foot) as they were a little short and I had to go and compress the spring washers elsewhere before I could get the nuts to bite the threads. However, all the other fastenings were fine. I followed the steps in the instruction book and the whole thing was complete within 30 minutes. Now we get to the reason why I give 3 stars and not 5. I note that another reviewer complains that this equipment is noisy. Well, after construction I began to pedal (that's what I bought it for).

Graunch, graunch, graunch - the noise was shocking and I understand why that other reviewer was so unhappy. It was dreadfully noisy. I tipped the cycle upside-down and had a look at the workings - all was fine except that the mechanism (RHS) was rubbing against the bodywork and curly, swarfy type pieces of plastic were already apparent. Closer inspection of the bodywork (down the front) (assembled in China) showed that it doesn't go together particularly well but I tried loosening and tightening some of the screws to see if it would pop together as it was designed. It didn't so I bimbled off to my garage and cut a piece of wood (4 or 5 inches - I dunno, I did it by eye) and wedged it, left to right about midway at the bottom, so it pushes the two sides of the bodywork apart slightly.

The cycle is now beautifully quiet - almost silent. So, what at first glances seems to be an excellent piece of equipment is let down by such a simple failing. The bodywork doesn't appear damaged in anyway, it might have warped slightly on its journey half way around the planet but one little bracket would have solved the problem. Anyway, the tension control works well, the screen makes sense and I don't find it any less comfortable than the very expensive exercise bikes we have at work. The handlebars are good - in fact, everything is good except for the graunch, graunch, graunch so I'm sure this bike is worth £109 but, York take note, had I paid full price I would be asking them to come and take it away again. UPDATE 4 days later: I have used the bike every morning, cycling 10 kms each time on setting No.3. At 5 kms I reduce to setting 2 for about 30 seconds before returning to setting 3 and I do the last kilometre on setting 4. The exercise cycle is great, the screen is easy, the seat (as said) is as comfortable as any other exercise bike I've used and, due to my piece of wood, it is very, very quiet. I am very happy with what I received for my £109. I hope these comments have been helpful and I will update again only if anything negative happens.

A Little Bit about the Bike:dy Sculpture BC7720 Exercise Bike Body Sculpture BC6730G Exercise Bike Reviewed

Body Sculpture BC6730G Exercise Bike Reviewed

By Ray Boulger

The Body Sculpture  BC7720  exercise bike will certainly provide anybody wishing to improve his level of fitness with the necessary amenities. The magnetic bike comes with an array of features that allow you to monitor your speed, distance, and time as well as keep track of recovery, calories, and body fat. This economical cycle comes with transport wheels so you can move the exercise bike from one room to the next and foot pedals that are affixed with adjustable straps. The deluxe saddle can be set at a convenient height for riding too with the bike holding a capacity of 40 kg., or around 265 pounds.

The Customer is King
You will like the braking system on the bike and the quietly running belt that is built to last. Plus, if, in any way, you are unhappy with your purchase, the bike comes with a 12-month warranty. Indeed, the focus is on the customer as the Body Sculpture brand provides customers in the UK with a help desk they can contact as well availability to replacement parts.

Monitor your Progress in a Number of Areas
You can progress in your workouts on the bike by determining the time and distance shown by the displays. The bike comes with an RPM, which shows your average speed, as well as an odometer for measuring distance. The Body Sculpture BC7220 features the highest quality magnetic resistance for super-smooth action and quiet running. There's a massive 21 gym-style programmatic to keep you motivated including 12 pre-set featuring hills, peaks and trails, 4 user created programmes, 4 heart rate controlled and 1 manual. The attractive two-tone backbit console provides feedback on time, distance, speed, RPM, calories used, temperature, body fat and hand pulse. The seat is fully adjustable vertically and horizontally ad the handlebars pivot backwards and forwards to allow you to achieve the optimum comfort.

A Couple Positive Comments
Comments were mainly favorable about the bike with only a few consumers expressing dissatisfaction with their purchase. One older consumer said he had looked at a number of exercise bikes before buying the Body Sculpture  BC7720  exercise bike. He liked the fact that the magnetic bike was easy to assemble and that it took under thirty minutes to set up. He also found the bike easy to transport and the programs on the affordable cycle simple to comprehend.

Another consumer, who also gave the exercise bike a good review, said he felt the bike was structurally sound and believed that it would hold up well if the user took good care of it. He noted, as well, that the bike was easy to put together (just over a half hour in this case to assemble) and it was a good value for the price.

A Complaint about the Instructions
He did, however, have one complaint and said that the instructions were not clearly presented, or were hard to understand as they seemed to be written by someone who spoke and wrote English as a second language.

A Problem with the Computer
Those who made negative comments about the Body Sculpture  BC7720  exercise bike also commented about the poor instructions too. In addition, one customer, who was displeased with his purchase, said that he felt the bike was a cheap product as the computer on the bike ceased to work after a short amount of time.

Not a Tall Person's Bike
Another reviewer said that the bike, when he received it, looked like that it was a good machine. Nevertheless, he noted that the adjustable seat could only accommodate a height of around 5.5 feet tall. Therefore, he said, that if you were taller, it would be uncomfortable to use the bike. As he was just shy of 6 feet himself, he felt that the bike was designed for someone who was of a smaller stature.

An Issue with the Display Panel
Another consumer said, when he received the bike, that he found that the display panel was broken. When he obtained a replacement part, that panel did not work either. However, the company did agree to refund the bike's purchase price.

In Summation...
While some consumers, then, found that the Body Sculpture  BC7720  exercise bike was an excellent cycle to use for improving their level of fitness, a few customers were unhappy with the computer display or could not understand the instructions. In some cases, the customer simply concluded that he needed to buy a bike that was more suitable for his size.

Tips to Selecting a Cheap Exercise Bike With Excellent Performance

Tips to Selecting a Cheap Exercise Bike With Excellent Performance

By Heldawaty Sihombing

Having an exercise bike in your own home provides convenience permitting you to train regardless of the time and weather. Not all stationary exercise bikes are expensive. With a little research, you can find a budget-priced training instrument. What should you do to get a cheap stationary bike with good quality? Follow some tips below:

1. Decide the type
There are two models of exercise bikes, the conventional and the recumbent types. The recumbent model is more comfortable than the traditional one, but it tends to be more expensive and takes greater storage space. While the traditional model involves sitting upright like a normal street bike, the recumbent model has a reclining back, lower seat, and the pedals are placed out in front of you.
2. Set your budget
A stationary bike usually costs from $200 to $2000. To limit your search, set your budget to a certain amount of money. Selecting the equipment will be easier and faster when you know which type you prefer and how much you are willing to spend.
3. Search for your bike
Go online to find a stationary bike that suits your criteria noted above. Make a list of some candidates.
4. Test your candidates
With the candidate list you have created from searching the Internet, visit one or more local stores to test each one of them. Some stores may not have all brands, so you may have to go to more than one store. To determine which one is best for you, consider a few factors here:
- Height and distance
The stationary bike should have a variety of easily adjustable heights and distance settings for various training intensities.
- Seats
The type of the seat should follow your body size and proportion. Too large or too small seat area will be a problem during exercise. Do not choose an instrument if you don't feel comfortable while sitting on it.
- Pedals
When you use the pedals, the rotation should run smoothly and consistently. The position of the pedals should be your consideration as well, especially if the stationary bike is going to be used by several people. As people have different leg lengths, opt for adjustable pedal positioning. Make sure the pedal chain is covered. Uncovered chains or other moving parts can catch your fingers or snag your clothes.
- Noise
A quiet machine is preferable as it can be used anytime, even in the middle of the night, without risk of waking up others.
- Warranty
Choose one that has at least a two-year of warranty for major moving parts and a one-year warranty for labor.
- More features
More expensive unit may have other features such as heart rate monitor and workout program. Include these in your consideration if your budget permits. With a little consideration, you can find a cheap exercise bike with good quality. Read our exercise bike reviews to find a unit that matches your need.

Why You Should Consider an Exercise Bike

By Michael Thomas Johnson

Fitness bikes are essentially mountain bikes encased in a fixed frame so customers can get the work out experience of a bike ride without having to brave the elements. Stationary bicycles feature seats, bars and pedals and in many cases full-featured control panels designed for monitoring and tracking your exercise routine.

While fitness bicycles often do not actually feature wheels, you can adapt a genuine bike to act as a stationary bike by setting the bike on a trainer or even on rollers.

Fitness bikes include upright stationary exercise bikes and recumbent stationary bicycles. To understand how beneficial an exercise bike can be to your life, you have to relax and appreciate exactly how hard it can be to be able to integrate effective exercise programs into your daily life.

Whilst it is normally accepted that the majority of men and women should spend at least half an hour daily exercising, longer exercise sessions actually benefit you more. By way of example, exercising for twenty minutes or so burns more than double the calories as training for ten minutes.

Sadly, many people find it hard to squash a longer workout in with their hectic lives. And in many cases, if they can fit it in, they're hesitant to regularly go through the schedule necessary to get to the fitness center on a consistent basis.

Two factors which regularly lead to procrastination commute to the gym along with the temperature outdoors. A stationary bike is a wonderful solution to eliminate these excuses. You can train in any climate.
The stationary bike is just about the most simple and safe type of gym equipment. Moreover, modern exercise bikes tend to be growing more and more stream-lined, making them easy to live with in even the smallest homes.

The numerous resistance levels of stationary bike pedals allow you to choose muscle workouts tailored for endurance and aerobic exercise. These bikes are also gentle on the joints. Doctors often recommend stationary bikes for people recovering from different knee surgeries.

Another great feature of stationary bikes is that you can get your exercise routine in without having to skip the news or your favourite television shows. You can enjoy music, watch TV and even read whilst while using an exercise bike.

There is also the recumbent exercise bike. On a quality recumbent exercise bike, it sometimes can feel lounging. You might virtually convince yourself you aren't even exercising! Recumbents are good for people with back pain, so if you suffer just about any kind of sore back but nevertheless want to get your cardio exercise in, you should consider a recumbent bike.

I hope this can help you appreciate the significance and flexibility of the stationary exercise bike. Remember that virtually any exercise is better than nothing, and there is no easier strategy to squeeze a workout into the day than with an exercise bike.

Michael Johnson works and advises in the fitness industry as a personal trainer. Michael specifically focuses on types of exercise bike including the folding exercise bike, portable bikes and recumbent bikes.

Second time around..:Body Sculpture BC903 Mini Bike

Second time around.. 22 April 2012
By bebe
Recently I read that short spurts of intense exercise (going for a run, going to the gym, etc.) isn't the best way to stay healthy - instead you should be steadily active all day long. Hmm. Not easy for anyone who works in an office (how many times can you go back and forth to the water dispenser?!).

I sit at a desk all day long and so thought some kind of under-desk exercise machine would be a wonderful idea. Low and behold, it already exists. There aren't many reviews of this mini-bike online but I decided to risk it and give it a go. The bike arrived well packaged but I suspected it had been 're-packaged' (so sold once and returned and now sent out again) - I think this was probably the case because I did find a fault - one of the screw holes was drilled too large and so the screw didn't fit. I put the bike together as best as I could anyway in order to give it a go (it is very easy to assemble) - it was a bit slippy on my floor and made a funny clicking noise. That said, I really liked the idea, the look of it, and the simplicity of it. So I returned the first bike and reordered another. The second bike fits together and works perfectly.

A note on returning - I used the 'click and collect' option and I have to say it was brilliant. The postage is prepaid, my local click and collect office was just up the road, no queues (like you get at the post office), and receipt provided. Amazon don't wait for the returned item, they just send the new one straight out and so it was delivered just a couple of days later. Excellent service.

About the product - it isn't going to make you amazingly fit, but it will help you stay active and burn a few extra calories in situations where it is difficult to do so or whilst you're doing other things (e.g. when your job involves a lot of sitting, when you're watching tv or on the phone, or if you're older/ill and need a low impact exercise). The big draw is of course its size - it is unobtrusive and can be hidden away easily. It is quite light which makes it easy to move around (also has a carry handle) but means it isn't as stable during use. It can slip on wood flooring but if you're sitting upright to use it then this is less of a problem - I imagine it would be fine on carpet. The monitor is clear and easy to use (to install batteries you have to flick off the front screen and then pop it back into the slot). It isn't disagreeable to look at - not a marvel of sleek design, but not too ugly either (actually I rather like the look of it - like a little robot!). It is nice and quiet (I saw a review of another bike that complained about noise - no noise here). The resistance is pretty low but it has to be - anything higher and the bike would become unstable - and it is a bit sticky at the higher resistance although this might resolve itself with more use. I find a medium resistance is just fine. I used it while on the phone the other night - a 60 minute phone call so 60 minutes of cycling. My heart rate certainly increased (I got very warm). Mostly I liked that I could happily chat away for an hour whilst getting in some exercise that didn't in any way distract from or intrude on the phone call.

All in all - very pleased. Room for improvement and I would never have paid £89.99 for it (£29.99 was more than enough) but overall I think this is a good idea and a simple design that is fairly well executed.
